The District of Columbia’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education is seeking a Senior IT Data Analyst (SQL Server) to provide data analysis and data management support within the data management team in the CIO’s office for various projects and business needs for multiple education data systems. The ideal candidate will possess 11+ years of data analysis, SQL developments, and working with various teams as well as strong stored procedure and BI experience.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or 15+ yrs of equivalent experience
- 11+ years of experience with data analysis and SQL development
- 11+ years of experience working with business stakeholders to support their analytics needs
- 11+ years of applying strong verbal and written communication skills
- 11+ years of communicating complex data to non-technical stakeholders
- 5+ years of data and database management experience with SQL 2012 and above
- 5+ years of experience with angular 6.0, ASP.NET, and Web API data set management
- 5+ years of experience with data structures in MS SSIS, MS SSRS, ETL Processes, and working with large data sets
- 5+ years of experience with SQL DB Design/development including stored processes
- 5+ years of experience with large complex data sets and data modeling
- 5+ years of experience working in critical production environments that rely heavily on data processes
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc

The District of Columbia’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education is seeking a Senior IT Data Analyst (SQL Server) to provide data analysis and data management support within the data management team in the CIO’s office for various projects and business needs for multiple education data systems. The ideal candidate will possess 11+ years of data analysis, SQL developments, and working with various teams as well as strong stored procedure and BI experience.
The Senior IT Data Analyst needs to be familiar with educational data requirements and policies as outlined by state and federal regulations for data reporting. This role must develop and maintain databases for reporting framework and storage of data. The Senior Data Analyst shall have knowledge and strong competency with SQL, SQL DB design/development including stored procedures, understanding data structures and cross-functional hierarchies to address the needs of the business and strong communication skills to communicate data hierarchy management procedures and rules to non- technical stakeholders.
The Senior IT Data Analyst (SQL Server) will be tasked to:
- Develop analytical tools and reporting modules
- Manage SQL Server databases
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes
- Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
- Provide suggestions for solutions when troubleshooting
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hour
